The Solarasi Government
Model: Militaristic Democracy
Summary: The Solarasi Government is a hybrid of governments that is just as easily a government as it is a war machine. Designed to be as streamlined as possible, the branches of government serve dual purpose, either during peace time or war time.
Executive Branch
Supreme Chancellor - Chief Executive being that is elected every eleven years. The Supreme Chancellor is the main physical and verbal force for the Solarasi Republic during peace time. The Chancellor's office sits at the top of the Sunspear.
Council of Admiralty - Council composed of the heads of each branch of the military.
Legislative Branch
The Council - Hosting five representatives per planet, the Council is composed of a populace elected division of representatives that hold a vote each. Meetings are held in a large room in the middle floors of the Sunspear in the capital of Solarasi.
Judicial Branch
Supreme Court - Eleven Justices, one of which being a Chief Justice. All decisions are final and cases may not be appealed or revisited.
Regional Courts - Five Justices, one of which being a Major Justice. If the case is tried and closed, but appealed by either side of the case or a Justice of equal or higher level, then the Regional Court revisits the case to see if it should ascend to the Supreme Court.
Local Courts - One Justice, jury of the community. Votes are taken on whether or not the accused is guilty or not. Truly a court of the people. The Justice is simply there to organize, facilitate, and finalize the case. If the vote is within a 60-40% range, then it ascends to the Regional Courts.
