Lucienne: The Avius was currently over in Solarasi territory, dealing with relations between the government and one of the tribes in a dispute, so in the mean time Lucienne was residing on Caledon Prime. She currently sat in a plaza that was established near the office she was given. Not feeling comfortable doing nothing at all, she could usually be found in the office, communicating with her people, or in the plaza. Her doings in the plaza usually entailed nothing more than reading, but occasionally she would walk around and do little things to amuse herself. As of that moment, she was reading a rather thick book, it braced against her knees as she sat on one of the benches surrounding a park area.
Caedras: “Supreme Chancellor?” came a voice from nearby. The man in question stood at an innocuous height of roughly five and a half feet, his build rather trim for one who carried himself with a seasoned soldier's rigid posture. The black uniform was crisp and neatly pressed, the badges of office and decorations pinned to his chest or stitch on his arm. They were not gaudy things, just small and neatly placed as to not cluster. Eyes flickered and shifted with light, the lenses implanted into his eyes displaying information that streamed. It was clearly a Federation officer of sorts, given the uniform and technology that seemed a part of him, and amongst the massive Caledonian men and women, he stood out all the more so for his comparatively minute physique. “We were wondering if we may have a moment of your time. Governor-Admiral Caedras, at your service.” The new leader of the Federation saluted her, with the same courtesy he would have given his own leader not too long ago.
Lucienne: The man, he was definitely a soldier. His posture held as much, and he had as many medals to prove it. No doubt some were from the conflict that had stemmed out of the tensions between the two civilizations not to long ago. The Intai'sei Federation and the Solarasi Republic had faced off before, and it hadn't gone well on either side. War was never really 'good' or 'well'. As far as she was concerned, action and reaction had happened, and then it ended. Having only been the captain of her own ship and a couple others during the conflict, she herself had a few medals from the fights as well, so she shouldn't judge. "I didn't know the Federation played this nicely with others." she says, clearly in a light joking manner, in which to diffuse the formalities already arising in the conversation. She had plenty of those to deal with during normal work hours. Standing up, she was much taller than the Governor-Admiral, standing at 6'1" which was only accented by her usual outfit with included the cloak hanging off her shoulder, a symbol of her rank. Offering a smile, she offers her hand for a shake. "It's a pleasure Governor-Admiral"
Caedras: CommanderCaedras gave the smallest and briefest of polite smiles before accepting her hand with his right one. The left, as it appeared, hung by his side and was a complete cybernetic replacement. “The former Sky-Marshal was a rather greedy individual and a puppet of certain corporations that did not have the Federations interests at heart. Much is changing, thankfully. It is our hope that we can begun to build where others had attempted to destroy. Given the fragility of galactic peace, we have considered and hoped to build inroads among the communities. As much as it is to reclaim our vestige of honor and purpose, we understand that orders were followed and the burdens ours to mend,” he explained to her, his voice even yet considerate. Caedras' gaze lifted up to hers, standing confidently despite her towering height. "All to say, the pleasure is ours, I suppose." At that, the ghost of a smirk tugged at the corner of his mouth. He seemed to have a sense of humour after all.
Lucienne: Lucienne Archer didn't have any cybernetics in herself, but she had heard of such things, and while she herself wasn't against them, her people were. It was definitely interesting to see one so integrated with technology. She had sustained injuries, while none to that scale, but the Solarasi had more healers than most other factions. "I believe you wholeheartedly Admiral, but the burden is simply not yours, nor ours. It is our peoples. I hate to say it, but my people do not let go of grudges very easily. I would love to get started with rebuilding and the reacquainting that our civilizations need. Especially in these testing times between the much bigger, and perhaps less stable nations in the galaxy." she notes, a small pulse or fire radiating up her arm from her hand and disappearing as it reached her shoulder. "The Kallean and Akkadian governments are putting an ever amounting pressure on the Caledonian government. With this conflict in mind...which side will you side with should....no. When war breaks on the horizon?"
Caedras: CommanderCaedras listened to her words carefully and nodded. “As well your people should hold a grudge. What was done was unprovoked on your people and deceitful to mine. We would not expect anything less from you and yours, but as you said, if peace and prosperity are to be built it must be a united effort.” The Federation leader clasped both hands behind his back, now, standing at ease before her. It took a few moments longer for him to mull over her question, and he frowned lightly. “If the Federation can prevent it from happening we will. As it stands, we are a state of the Caledonian Empire and will follow the orders given as best as we can. But we are on speaking terms with the Kalleans and the Akkadians and are doing what we can to open more diplomatic means of communication. What the Federation cannot do, however, is save the Caledonian empire from itself. In truth, it seems such pressures are merited.” Caedras shrugged.
Lucienne: Lucienne Archer nodded in acknowledgement, adding those comments to her notes about the ever present war that was on the horizon. "I see." she replies, turning slightly to the side to look at the park, her face unreadable. "Our nations are not as different as thought Admiral. We are in the Caledonian's debt from when they supported my people in our uprising against the Akkadians. I would love nothing more than to have peace, as it comes with a certain...tranquility that cannot be achieved when you must look over your shoulder for threats. Unfortunately, both the ideological differences, adding onto the potential infringement caused by the Caledonians if the attack on the Matriarch of the Kallean was intended. Then war is inevitable. As it always is. As it stands, I hold only a only half of the vote should we chose a side at all. Neutrality may be what the Council wants." she explains, pausing a second before looking at the Admiral. "Without the restraints of your obligations, people, or any external influence especially including myself, who would you side with Admiral?"
Caedras: CommanderCaedras stood alongside her, observing the park, hands clasped behind his back. “Such neutrality, some would perceive as cowardice. In truth, I would find it wise.” He let those words linger in the air as he considered his words and evaluated his thoughts. “There are things in motion, pinning nation against nation. Undercurrents of unrest that are a product of the events taken place. Emperor Brennus does not have my vote of confidence. But who I would side with would depend on a grand number of things. Who is the aggressor? What is the purpose? Where does the Federation stand in the galactic community? Who leads the Caledonians?” He let that hang in the air for a few moments longer before responding. “I do not make hasty decisions, Chancellor. I consider the facts and those that rely upon me. Granted...that pool has become slightly larger in the two months.” Caedras looked her way. “What is it you wish to know from me, with these questions in mind? If you ask plainly, in regards to something I can well and truly answer, then the truth will be yours.”
Lucienne: "Admiral, I believe you to be as well informed, or more so than I. I am not asking you to make and commit to your decision, just...what would you do?" she states, toning her question to show that it wasn't the whole picture. "The overall purpose is for my intelligence on you as a person. Your morals and how far you would go do support those who are right versus your own weaknesses." she replies, her own shoulders moving around to loosen themselves. "Not only is this for myself, but it is for the Council. They realize that the Kalleans are military based, and that the Caledonians and Akkadians are both large empires that have sizable fleets of their own. Whilst our own nations are anything but weak, we are simply outnumbered. Both the Council and myself believe that should a war break out, we would most definitely be caught in the cross fire. With such a decision, they opted that I ask a clear representative of the Intai'sei Federation, what they were considering." she explains, very heavily considering what might happen if such a crossfire should happen.
Caedras: “Context is important, Chancellor. A woman is stabbing a man. Do you help the man and stop her? If he was about to rape her, would that change your decision? If she were disturbed and in a fit of psychosis, the question remains. I would answer the call to defend against unruly aggressors, yes. If the Caledonians, however, have shamed themselves or ineptly brought war upon themselves, then that is something we will have to consider then...” It was clear that the struggle was haunting his thoughts, something he had on his mind for some time. To be honor bound to a people who helped his own, only to be bound to throw their lives away for a ruler not worthy of respect? A dilemma indeed. But a thought came to him when hearing her people's plight, one that he nodded to and looked to the skies above. “Then the Federation would opt to take its fleet and offer to protect your borders from any conflict that would spill into your realm and spare your systems further harm.”
Lucienne: Lucienne Archer stands there, rolling over his words and what that might mean. Another pulse of fire echos up her arm, disappearing at the same spot. His answer gave her answers to questions she had not yet asked, which was good. Saved them both time. "Admiral, that is one of the answers the Council was hoping for. Against the people's wishes, they want to form a pact with the Intai'sei. Not only non-aggression, but symbiotic. The Caledonian's currently supplement the holes in our still stabilizing economy. Should they fall, then our position as a nation is jeopardized as the neighboring borders to any of the two factions might ignite. Not only is the Council looking for someone more....reliable than the Caledonian's, but also one that is in a similar state of aggression. The Intai'sei are both of relative size and might of ourselves."
Caedras: CommanderCaedras turned to regard the tall woman at his side, nodding respectfully to the Solarisi leader. “Then we will be most pleased to consider stabilizing trade agreements with the Solarisi. As it stands, the Akkadians and the Kalleans both maintain diplomatic ties with use. The Akkadians and ourselves have begun revisiting trade agreements, which could provide safe routes behind their lines to your people, should the Caledonians be at war. If we do not mrch under the flag of the Caledonians, then the Kalleans would allow travel through their domain as well. Trade vessels and corporate ships may be permitted to do so as well. The Federation will make amends, one way or another. And it pleases us to see the Solarisi, despite our differences, share some common ideals. Quality over quantity, I've heard it said.” Caedras smiled a little this time, looking her way. “If you would wish it so, I will communicate with the Board of Commerce to begin communications with the Solarisi in regards to trade. Even if war does not break out, it would be to our advantages to build bridges.” Caedraslooked back out to the park. "Have you any other questions or the like, Chancellor? We would be pleased to answer."
